Wolf is seeking a Director of Internal Audit to join our growing and well-established national firm.


We are a leading firm in the accounting and consulting industry, providing comprehensive professional services to a diverse range of clients with a specialty in financial institutions. As Wolf continues growing, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Internal Audit to join our team and help ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our service delivery.


The Director of Internal Audit will be responsible for helping lead the internal audit function in the Mid-Atlantic, overseeing clients, audit activities, and ensuring that our clients’ internal controls and risk management processes are robust and effective. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of audit practices and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Help develop and execute the department’s strategy and plan, aligning with the firm’s objectives and regulatory requirements. Lead and mentor the internal audit team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Audit Execution:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and reporting of internal audits. Ensure audits are conducted in accordance with established standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Risk Management:
    • Evaluate our client’s risk management processes, internal controls, and governance structures. Identify and assess areas of potential risk and recommend improvements.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure our client’s compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare and present detailed audit reports to senior management and the audit committee. Highlight key findings, risks, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other Wolf departments and external auditors to coordinate audit activities and address any identified issues. Build strong relationships with stakeholders to support audit objectives and ensure the firm’s objectives are met.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing best practices in internal auditing.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIA, CPA) required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in internal audit, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role within a CPA firm or similar organization.
  • Proven track record of growing and serving a business within a professional services firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of The Institute of Internal Audit standards, risk management practices, and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, manage multiple projects, and drive results in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, assess risks, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and objectivity in all aspects of work.

Working Conditions:

  • Location: Mid-Atlantic, NY, NJ or PA – This role requires travel to client sites or other locations. On average one week per month.
  • Hours: Full-time position with a standard workweek; occasional extended hours may be required to meet deadlines or manage critical projects.

The salary range for this position is $170,000 - $200,000.

 

Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws. In addition to base pay, you may be eligible to participate in our performance-based incentive compensation or sales commission plans.
